Which cars make the best taxis?

If you’re a taxi driver, then having the right car is essential. You’ll need something that keeps petrol costs low, needs relatively little maintenance, has great reliability scores, and is something you can get cheap taxi insurance for and complies with legislation, among other factors. In this post, we take a look at the cars that make the best taxis.

Skoda Octavia

Skoda have improved their brand’s appeal massively over the course of the past couple of decades, and they’re now known for making solid and reliable cars. The Octavia is arguably the pick of the bunch, too. It’s classy, comfortable, spacious and well-priced.

The incredibly large cabin is great for passengers, and it’s incredibly cheap to both buy and run. In addition, even the entry level models have a good level of equipment, so you should have plenty to help keep you entertained between passengers and journeys.

VW Passat

A step up from the Octavia in terms of luxury, the VW Passat is an excellent all-rounder. Depending on your choice of engine, the Passat can be incredibly powerful, too. The styling is also quite refined, and the exterior is luxurious without being flashy.

If you’re looking for a comfortable and refined saloon, then look no further than the Passat which provides comfort, reliability and a good level of technology for the money you pay.

Ford Focus

A real family favourite, the Ford Focus is one of Britain’s favourite vehicles for a reason. The ideal hybrid between the small Fiesta and the slightly cumbersome Mondeo, the Focus will give you great performance and economy.

The Focus is incredibly fun to drive no matter what specification you get and it has a fantastic level of equipment and driver aids. There’s also plenty of space in both the front and the back – there’s no wonder it’s a best seller.

SEAT Toledo

Finally, the SEAT Toledo is a great option at the cheaper end of the scale. Although the styling is slightly duller than some of the other options on this list, it remains incredibly practical. This is mainly due to the large amount of space in the vehicle, as well as the punchy, powerful engine range. Between the Ibiza and the Leon in the range, it’s a very versatile option if you’re looking for a car perfect for both business and pleasure.
Of course, these are not the only cars that make good taxis. However, they should give you an idea of the right type of vehicle to look for when selecting your next car.
