BMW i8 is now on the market with a total 357bhp from a 213bhp 1.5 litre three-cylinder turbo petrol with 320Nm of torque and a hybrid synchronous electric motor producing another 131bhp and 250Nm of torque.
0-62mph comes in 4.4 seconds, while the top speed is limited 155mph. On purely electric mode it has a range up to 23 miles and what’s most impressive is the average fuel economy of 134.5mpg with CO2 emissions of just 49 g/km.
It is a very different kind of BMW so how do you sell it? It is a great car, but in today’s world it also needs a successful marketing and for that BMW has hired director Gus Van Sant, best known for films like Good Will Hunting and Finding Forrester.
