Watch Nissan GT-R Nismo attempt Nürburgring lap record [video]

Earlier this week Nissan had the Nürburgring race track shut down exclusively for their upcoming GT-R Nismo, which is pretty unusual as it is quite costly. They even hired safety marshalls and timing beacons in the industry/sport-auto positions.

Why? Nissan is trying to set a new record, but we doubt it can beat the Porsche 918 Spyder, which recently lapped the ‘Ring in just 6:57.

Rumour is that the new GT-R Nismo can go from 0-62mph in just two seconds flat! Under the bonnet are reportedly more than 600 horsepower. It is also lighter than the standard car with a beefier body kit.

We’ll have full details on the GT-R Nismo next month, when it makes its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.
