Volkswagen XL1 Spied Again - Shows Carbon Interior And Side Cameras

Last week we brought you photos of the super efficient Volkswagen Xl1 from Southern Spain. Today we have new photos and new details.

We get to see the carbon interior and the carbon steering wheel. The speedo shows till 200 km/h (125 mph) and details about the battery. The production model is expected to have a top speed of 99mph and a 0-62mph time of 11.9sec.

The prototype we showed you last week had side mirrors for some unknown reason as this one clearly shows side camera on each door. All in the name of better fuel economy.

As we have mentioned already, this diesel plug-in hybrid has a combined fuel consumption of 310 mpg and CO2 emissions of 24 g/km. Power comes from a 47bhp 0.8-litre two-cylinder diesel engine and a 27bhp electric motor that can work in parallel or independently. Range from a full charge is up to 21 miles.

Limited series production is scheduled to start next year.
