Volkswagen has unveiled the new Golf VII GTD, which is set to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
The new Golf GTD is powered by a 181bhp 2.0-litre common rail turbodiesel with 380 Nm of torque. When connected to the six-speed manual the Golf GTD delivers an impressive 67.3 miles per gallon with CO2 emissions of only 109 g/km. Six-speed DSG is optional.
Acceleration from 0-62 mph takes 7.5 seconds, while the top speed is 142 mph. There is also a new sports suspension.
Visually the Golf GTD is distinguished from the standard model with smoked LED rear lights with LED licence plate illumination, a rear diffuser, side skirts, chrome dual tailpipes, 17-inch alloy wheels with 225/45 tyres and a large roof spoiler.
Interior boats new sports seats, a black rooflining, sports steering wheel, stainless steel pedals,GTD-specific gear lever, trim strips and instrument cluster.
UK sales are expected to start in April. Pricing details will be confirmed closer to launch.
