Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Camper revealed, priced from £23,397

The weather is getting warmer and those into camping are already planning first trips. Just in time for the summer, Volkswagen has unveiled a new Caddy Maxi Camper.

The Caddy Maxi Camper features a fold-out double bed, two deck chairs, portable table and an electric cool box.

Measuring 4.8 metres long and 1.8 metres high, the Caddy Maxi Camper prices start from £23,397 – making it the most compact and affordable model in Volkswagen’s camper range.

When the rear seats are folded down, and the front seats tipped forward, the double bed unfolds to give a flat double bed measuring 1.1 x 2.0 m, complete with a privacy curtain which attaches around the interior windows.

The awning, which attaches to clips around the tailgate offers extra outdoor space and measures 2.3 m x 2.0 m.

When on the road, the table, chairs and awning fit into bespoke storage spaces in the rear. Once the rear seats are folded, there is up to 3.2 m3 or a 1.8 m long loadspace available.

As always roof box or bike rack can be added for extra storage space.

Two engines are available: 102bhp 1.6-litre TDI that delivers 54.3mpg and a 140bhp 2.0-litre TDI, delivering 49.6mpg. DSG automatic transmission is available with both engines.
