Very limited Aeroboat with a 1,100hp Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 to debut at Salute to Syle in July

The most powerful road-going Rolls-Royce is currently the Wraith coupe with a 624bhp V12 engine linked to an 8-speed automatic ZF transmission.

Rolls-Royce also makes very powerful plane engines.

This here is the Aeroboat – a sleek British powerboat that is powered by a fuel-injected Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine, detuned to 1,100hp. That’s the same 27-litre engine that was used in the Spitfire. For the Aeroboat it is rebuilt for the water. The potential speed range with all that power is 75-95 knots (86-109 miles per hour)

The design of the Aeroboat is inspired by the famous Spitfire fighter. Even the throttle and switchgear design is aircraft-inspired and the shock-mounted forward seats are a nod to the Spitfire’s own landing gear. This modern-retro super-yacht also boasts plenty of carbon fibre, kevlar and lightweight wood veneer.

Just 12 super-yachts are destined for production and the design will be displayed at summer garden party Salute to Style at The Hurlingham Club on 16-19 July.
