2013 is kicking off with a brand new entry to the city hatch market – the Vauxhall Adam. This smart little three-door, four-seater model is designed with young city-dwellers in mind and presents strong competition to the Fiat 500 and MINI Hatch.

Finally, a 1.4-litre 99 bhp engine packs a little extra punch for commuters who hit the open road more often; It’s flexible and poised and offers a comfy ride at speed.
Having chosen the engine, drivers can select the style they’re after – Jam for a chic look, Glam for luxury or Slam for sportiness. Each is available in a staggering range of colour, trim and wheel combinations, meaning owners can more or less tailor the car exactly to their tastes.
Behind the wheel, it’s easy to see why the new Vauxhall Adam is likely to sell well. The ergonomic driving position and supportive seats mean drivers will remain comfortable through heavy traffic or longer distances, while the controls are intuitive and the touch screen interface is user-friendly.
Where the Adam falls down slightly is on practicality. Space in the rear is just a smidgen too tight for adults and boot room is limited. Many buyers will be prepared to forego the space, however, for the benefits of being able to create a unique car.
