This is how the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo was born [video]

Mercedes-Benz has released a making of video for the AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept, which was developed exclusively for Gran Turismo 6 on PlayStation 3.

The virtual supercar can be driven already later this week when the new Gran Turismo 6 goes on sale.

The concept is much more than a virtual supercar as Mercedes-Benz also built a 1:1 scale model which was shown to the public at the Los Angeles Auto Show last month.

The concept is “virtually” powered by a 577bhp AMG V8 engine sending power to rear wheels via AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT seven-speed sports transmission.

Featuring an aluminium space frame body and components made of carbon fibre, the concept has a dry weight of just 1,385kg.

The AMG Vision Gran Turismo takes inspiration from the 300 SL racing car, featuring gullwing doors, LED radiator grille, long bonnet, flowing lines, compact green house and a dramatic side contour with muscular body shell.
