Spy video: Is this the Porsche 911 Hybrid prototype?

Porsche is busy working on new models and a big change over the hears will be hybrid versions of pretty much all models. Porsche will eventually offer all their models with a hybrid system as confirmed last year. Yes even the iconic 911.

What we have here is a mysterious Porsche 911 prototype spied testing on the Nürburgring that could be a hybrid version.

The exterior does not reveal anything suspicious, but at closer look you will notice the back seat is removed in order to make room for what appears to be an electric motor or/and battery pack.

If you pay attention to the engine sound then it is also different when the driver shifts and accelerates.

Porsche has already plenty of experience with hybrid tech from the development of the 918 Spyder and 911 GT3 R Hybrid, along with the production Panamera S-E Hybrid.

Next in line is Cayenne S-E Hybrid, plug-in Macan and as we can see also the 911.

A Porsche 911 Turbo S with a hybrid drivetrain could easily produce a combined 700+ horsepower. Plus in addition to the sound of flat-6 engine it would also offer quiet zero-emission cruising and improved fuel economy. Sounds like a good plan to us.
