Skoda Rapid Spaceback revealed ahead of Frankfurt debut

Following last week’s spy shots, Skoda has unveiled the Rapid Spaceback, which is set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The Spaceback has the same2602mm wheelbase as the standard Rapide, featuring a modified C and D pillars with a new third side window along with a roof-mounted rear spoiler. Panoramic tinted glass window is optional and stretches from the windscreen to the rear window.

Trunk volume measures 415 litres or 1,380 litres when the rear bench is folded down. There is an optional double cargo floor in the trunk, permitting the trunk to be divided into two horizontal levels providing double utility.

The Rapid Spaceback will be available with four petrol and two diesel engines with power ranging between 74bhp and 121bhp, with the 89bhp 1.6-litre TDI delivering an impressive 74.3 mpg and CO2 emissions of 99 g/km.

The Rapide Spaceback goes on sale in October. Pricing details will be announced closer to market launch.
