Seven nominees for European Car of the Year 2014 announced

The jury for the 2014 Car of The Year has selected seven candidates that will be submitted to specific tests near Paris next February, prior to the final vote and the announcement of the winner in Geneva on March 3rd, 2014.

The finalists for the 2014 COTY include cars like: all-electric BMW i3, all-electric Tesla Model S, Citro├źn C4 Picasso, Mazda3, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Peugeot 308 and Skoda Octavia. As you can see the finalists cover a whole range of different vehicles in different market segments. Th only car that is missing this year is a sports car.

This year’s winner was the seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf and it is quite hard to predict next year’s winner. Tesla Model S has been quite popular in Europe and is the first EV that you can really take to longer trips, while also looking good and being both sporty and luxurious, so our guess the top three cars are Model S, Mazda3 and S-Class.
