This is one successful comeback! After a 14 year break, Peugeot returned to Pikes Peak and won the event with their highly-modified Peugeot 208 T16 packing 875 hp with Sebastien Loeb behind the steering wheel.

Sebastien Loeb just did not win the hill climb he also set a new record time of 8:13.878. The Frenchman’s average speed was 87.471mph on the 12.42 mile course that has 156 corners. He is also the first to finish the legendary race in less than nine minutes.

Previous best from last year was 9m46.164s, set by Rhys Millen, who finished second this year with a time of 9:02.192.

“For me, this was the race of the year,” said Loeb at the finish, at 4,300 metres high in the Rocky Mountains. “At the beginning of my run there was a bit of pressure for sure because I knew there was so much work and investment from Peugeot and all the partners. Now, after all the practice, it was just down to me and I had to perform.”
