In 1984, Peugeot introduced its hot 205 GTi with a wild, James Bond inspired commercial, showing the car chased down a snowy mountain by a military helicopter dropping missiles.
Now 30 years later the automaker has released a proper sequel with the 208 GTi 30th anniversary edition, showing little of the original footage, followed by a similar script with some awesome digital tricks.
The 208GTi is available from £18,895 and powered by a 197bhp 4-cylinder, 1.6-litre turbocharged engine connected to a six-speed manual gearbox, taking the compact hatch from 0-62mph in 6.8seconds. The special 30th anniversary model packs an extra 7bhp, unique two-tone exterior and 0-62mph time in 6.5 seconds.
The sportier version of the 208 also has a widened track by 10mm at the front and 20mm at the rear, a new more aggressive front bumper, a unique grille, body sills and wing extensions, as well as the GTi badge that was last seen on the 205 GTi.
