Peugeot 208 – First Photos Of The 207 Successor (updated)
Here we have the very first photos of the Peugeot 207 successor, that most likely will be called 208, though there are rumors that Peugeot will start giving their new cars actual names instead of numbers.
Styling will follow the same direction as we have already seen on the 508. Even though the prototype is heavily disguised we can see the LED daytime driving stripe on the front lights and a short rear overhang.
The engine line-up for the 208 will start with a three cylinder petrol engine. Part of the range are also different diesels and the top of the range four cylinder petrol unit in the GTi version is expected to produce around 200bhp. All engines are expected to feature a start-stop system.
The 208 family will include the 3 and 5 door hatch versions, a roomier SW version and also a CC version. Expected launch is sometimes in 2012. Rumor is that Peugeot is also working on a smaller SUV/Crossover based on the 208. Stay tuned for more details!
Update: We have added a rendering of the Peugeot 208 to the gallery below.
