No more speculations and spy shots. Cadillac has unveiled the all-new 2016 CTS-V saloon, ahead of its public debut at the North American International Auto Show next month in Detroit.
Going against the Audi RS 6, BMW M5 and Mercedes E 63 AMG, the all-new CTS-V is powered by a supercharged 640bhp 6.2-litre V8 with 630 lb-ft of torque linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission, taking the sporty saloon from 0-60mph in a very impressive 3.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 200mph.
The same engine is also found in the new Corvette Z06, where it delivers 650bhp.
Other under the skin updates include strut tower-to-tower brace, a strut tower-to-plenum brace, strengthened rocker bulkhead, stronger cradle-to-rocker braces and upper tie bar-to-bumper braces.
There is also a sport-tuned suspension, an improved steering system, electronic limited-slip rear differential, larger prop shafts, Brembo brakes, an upgraded Magnetic Ride Control system and a “competition-spec” Performance Traction Management system with four different modes: Tour, Sport, Track and Snow.
visually the V model is distinguished from the standard CTS with an aggressive front fascia with a mesh grille, larger air intakes, new front splitter, ventilated carbon fibre bonnet, widened fenders, aerodynamic side skirts, a rear spoiler and a four-tailpipe exhaust at the rear.
All this rides on new 19-inch forged aluminium wheels wrapped with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres.
Those who want an even more aggressive look, there is also an optional Carbon Fibre package that includes a more aggressive front splitter, bonnet vent, rear diffuser and spoiler.
The interior carries largely over from the standard model, showing new additions like semi-aniline leather / sueded microfibre sport seats, matte carbon fibre trim and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
There is also a CUE infotainment system, a Performance Data Recorder and a Bose audio system.
U.S. Sales will start next summer, while European launch is likely sometimes in late 2015 or in early 2016.
