Next-generation Porsche Cayenne will be faster than Bentley Bentayga SUV

Bentley’s first SUV called Bentayga will arrive in 2016 as the most expensive and luxurious SUV on the market.

Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer has already announced that the brand’s upcoming Bentayga will be also the fastest SUV on the market.

Well not so fast Bentley!

Porsche, that is also under the same big VW umbrella has their own plans of course.

In an interview to Car and Driver, Wolfgang Hatz, Porsche’s R&D head says the Bentley won’t be king for long.

The next-generation Cayenne will arrive in 2017, and according to Hatz will be considerably quicker than Bentley’s SUV.

“Our Cayenne is always very, very quick. It is doing 300 km/h [186 mph]. I think if [Dürheimer] is doing 2 to 3 km/h more, then why not? He’s doing that with a 12-cylinder. Our car will be much quicker on the road.”

The current Cayenne Turbo S is an impressive SUV packing 570 horsepower and also the first SUV to beat the eight-minute barrier at the Nürburgring.

The next Cayenne will be powered by a new generation of engines and benefit from at least the same weight loss as the recently unveiled new Audi Q7 with which the next Cayenne will again share its platform.
