New Volkswagen Golf VII R spied nearly undisguised on the Nürburgring

New seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf has been on sale for a while now. In addition to the standard model VW has already revealed the GTI and the GTD. What the Golf fans are really waiting for is the hot Golf R – the fastest Golf ever.

The new Golf R was caught testing this morning on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in near production trim. The only real disguise you can see is at the front, hiding a revised bumper and huge air intakes.

At the rear we can see four exhausts – two on each side.

Under the bonnet is very likely a new 2.0-litre turbocharged unit with close to 300bhp, enabling it to hit 0-62mph in just 5.0 seconds on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Power will be sent to a new improved and lighter four-wheel drive system.
