New Volkswagen Golf GTI priced from £25,845

New seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI, which was introduced to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March, is now available to order in the UK, with prices starting at £25,845. That’s just £195 more than the previous model.

The new model is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine, that in the standard model delivers 217bhp and in the GTI Performance version packs 227bhp.

The standard GTI goes from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 152mph, while the GTI Performance numbers are 6.4 seconds and 155mph respectively.

With the six-speed manual gearbox both models have an average fuel economy of 47.1 mpg with CO2 emissions of 139 g/km. When equipped with the optional six-speed DSG gearbox, both models have a fuel consumption figure of 44.1 mpg.

The £980 Performance pack is not just about extra horsepower, but it also comes with uprated brakes and a limited-slip differential.
