French compact city cars are all turning a new page. Peugeot just unveiled the new 108 and here is the all-new Renault Twingo.
The new Twingo is developed together with Daimler and will share its platform with the next versions of the two- and four-seat Smart.
The new Twingo takes inspiration from the legacy left by the original Twingo, the Renault 5 and mainly from last year’s Twin’Run Concept.
It looks really great and what really impresses us is that the engine is at the rear and it is a rear-wheel-drive city car. Engine details will be released next month when the new Twingo debuts at the Geneva Motor Show, but it is rumoured to use a new three-cylinder engine.
Because the engine is at the rear there is more space, plus it also improves the turning circle.
New Twingo comes in a choice of four vibrant colours (light blue, white, yellow and red).
The car’s five-door architecture is not noticeable at first, like it is with the new Clio, featuring concealed rear door handles.
A three-door hatch would be nice, but unfortunately five-door version is the only choice you have.
