New Peugeot 308 SW revealed ahead of Geneva debut

Peugeot has unveiled the new 308 SW, due on sale spring 2014 after its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The new Peugeot 308 SW shares its ‘Efficient Modular Platform’ (EMP2) with the new 308 hatchback, which has allowed Peugeot to shed 140kg compared to the outgoing model.

New model is also about 30cm longer, boasting an impressive 610 litres of boot space – more than the new VW Golf and SEAT Leon estates, but just a bit less than the Honda Civic Tourer, which offers 624 litres.

The seats are folded with a single action from inside the boot and the result is a perfectly flat floor.

From launch, the Euro 6 petrol and diesel engines will be offered with the new 1.6-litre BlueHDi version emitting just 85g/km of CO2, setting a new benchmark in the segment. Other engines include 148bhp 2.0-litre BlueHDi, and a turbocharged three-cylinder 1.2-litre unit with up to 128bhp.

The interior boasts Peugeot’s new i-Cockpit approach with sleek and innovative design, featuring a large 9.7-inch colour touchscreen in the centre console.

The entry-level 308 SW Access model is expected to start at around £16,000.
