New Mercedes S-Class Winter Testing In Sweden

Here we have the latest spy photos of the next-generation S-Class testing in Sweden with a perfect temperature of – 30 C and blue skies. The prototype is still heavily disguised, but it looks looks like the front lights are smaller with LED indicators than on the current model. The grille looks also more upright inspired by the F700 concept, but not as extreme.

Compared to the current generation S-Class it also looks larger, but thanks to extensive use of lightweight materials should not weigh more.

While nothing is official, the new S-Class will feature a wide range of engines, including petrol, diesel and different hybrid variants. Notably the most interesting one will be a powertrain from the Vision S500 Plug-In Hybrid Concept, that will take this big saloon from 0-62mph in around 5.5 seconds, while offering an impressive 70mpg.

The new S-Class is expected to go on sale in late 2012.
