Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the new SLK roadster, that will be launched in the UK in June. Now in its third generation, the SLK is the first car to feature the panoramic vario-roof with Magic Sky Control, which switches to light or dark at the touch of a button.
The new front face of the SLK reveals a more upright grille similar to the SLS AMG and new CLS. New design also improves the SLK’s drag co-efficient, 0.30 compared to the previous model’s 0.32.
Initially the new SLK will be offered with 4- and 6-cylinder engines featuring the standard-specification ECO start/stop function. The four-cylinder engines in the SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY and SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY develop 184bhp and 204bhp respectively from a 1.8-litre unit.
With the optional seven-speed automatic transmission 7G‑Tronic Plus, the SLK 200 BlueEfficiency returns 46.3 mpg on the combined cycle.
The SLK 350 BlueEFFICIENCY is powered by a 306bhp 3.5-litre V6 unit, that takes it from 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds. Pricing and final specifications will be announced prior to launch.
