New Lexus IS Spotted For The First Time
These are the first spy shots of the next generation Lexus IS, caught testing on the streets in America. The prototype is heavily disguised, revealing very little.
Lexus recently updated both the GS and LS. The next-generation IS is expected to follow similar design. We can see a wide grille with big air intakes, sharper lines, dual exhaust tips and L-shaped LED taillights.
New IS is rumoured to be sportier and more upmarket than the outgoing model. It is reportedly based on the stretched version of the rear-wheel drive platform underpinning the Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT 86.
In addition to standard petrol and diesel engines, a hybrid version is also very likely to debut in the new IS. The top of the range IS-F is very likely going to use a smaller turbocharged unit in favour of the current V8. A similar move BMW is doing with their M3/M4.
World debut is very likely at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
