New Audi S1 and S1 Sportback with 228bhp and quattro all-wheel-drive revealed [video]

Audi’s premium compact hatch just got more interesting with the addition of a new S1 with the new 228 bhp 2.0-litre TFSI engine linked to a six-speed manual transmission and quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The new Audi S1 and five-door S1 Sportback will be available to order in the UK from mid-March priced from £24,900 and £25,630 respectively.

The three door-hatch goes form 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155mph, while delivering an average fuel economy of 40.3mpg. The five-door sportback does it in 5.9 seconds and has the same top speed with fuel economy at 39.8mpg.

Exterior updates compared to the standard A1 include a xenon plus headlights combined with LED taillights, more aggressive body with beefier bumpers, side sills, rear wing and a quad exhaust at the rear. There are also standard 17-inch alloy wheels or optional 18-inch alloys fitted in 225/35 R18 tyres.

Under the skin updates besides a more powerful engine include 310mm front disc brakes with red calipers, electronic differential lock with the fine-tuned wheel-selective torque control and S-specific sports suspension.

The interior boasts dark tones, like high gloss air vent sleeves with piano black finish, instruments with S-specific dark-grey scales, whie the pedal caps are in brushed stainless steel.
