New Audi A6 revealed, prices start at £30,145

Audi has released details and pictures of the all-new A6, saloon that is set to make its market debut in early 2011. New A6 is 4.92 metres long, 1.87 metres wide, and just 1.46 metres high making it shorter, lower, wider and with a longer wheelbase than the outgoing model.

New A6 comes with generous standard equipment, high quality cabin materials and new technologies like MMI touchscreen navigation, 3G phone connection that creates a wireless hotspot inside the car and Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System.

In UK, Audi will offer the new A6 with a choice of one petrol engine and three TDI units that develop between 175bhp and 298bhp.All of these engines come with the start-stop system, the energy recovery system, and the innovative thermal management concept.

The most efficient unit in the range is a 175bhp 2.0 TDI, that consumes just 57.5mpg when equipped with a six speed manual gearbox. The only petrol unit available from the launch in UK is a 3.0 TFSI with 298bhp and 325 lb ft of torque mated to a seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox, that sends power to permanent quattro all-wheel drive.

Throughout the entire model line, fuel consumption in the A6 has decreased by up to 19 percent compared to the previous model.

Global debut for the new A6 is next month at the Detroit Motor Show. The base 2.0-litre TDI with a manual gearbox starts at £30,145 and will rise over £40k for the 3.0-litre TFSI with a seven-speed S Tronic transmission.

In 2012, a hybrid version of the A6 will join rest of the range with a parallel hybrid system also found in the Q5 Hybrid.
