BMW 2 Series Coupe debuted in early 2013, replacing the 1 Series Coupe in part of a new naming strategy.
Following the coupe, BMW has now unveiled the 2 Series Convertible at the Paris Motor Show with a retractable multi-layer fabric roof that can be opened or closed in 20 seconds at speeds up to 30mph.
Compared to the outgoing 1 Series Convertible it replaces, the new model has extra insulation which has reduced the interior noise by 5 dB in the front and 7 dB at the rear seats.
The engine range carries over from the 2 Series Coupe and includes the 181bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol, 2.0-litre turbodiesel with 141bhp in the 218d, 181bhp in the 220d and 215bhp in the 225d.
The range topping M235i uses a 321bhp six-cylinder 3.0-litre petrol, taking the car from 0-62mph in 5 seconds when equipped with the optional eight-speed automatic.
This new four-seater compact four-seat convertible is priced in UK from £29,175 for the 220i with first cars arriving in early 2015 at dealerships, just in time for summer driving.
