New 2015 Audi Q7 spied on the Nürburgring

Here we have the latest spy shots of the next-generation Audi Q7 testing on the Nürburgring. The prototype continues to wear the same heavy disguise, but it is quite clear there are no big changes and the design will be evolutionary and easily recognisable.

Later at the test centre, our photographer managed to take a picture of the heavily camouflaged interior as well as a picture of the open boot. The taillights are integrated on the tailgate just like on the current model, but it does look like the boot is a bit lower.

The new Q7 rides on automaker’s next-generation MLB platform, that is much lighter thanks to aluminium and even some carbon fibre components. Reportedly the new Q7 will be around 350kg lighter than the outgoing model.

The new updated MLB platform is also capable of adopting alternative drivetrains. The new Q7 has already been confirmed to receive an e-tron plug-in hybrid option.

The new lightweight platform will also span the upcoming Bentley SUV, Lamborghini SUV, next-generation VW Touareg and next Porsche Cayenne.

The new Audi Q7 is expected to debut in late 2014.
