The annual Montreal International Auto Show (MIAS) started January 18 and will go on until January 27. The event, one of the most important of this type in Canada, is attracting thousands of car enthusiasts each year. An overlook of the 2013 edition’s highlights.
The Aston Martin Vanquish Makes its Canadian Debut
After five years of absence on the market, the Aston Martin is back… and it means business. The V12 powered ferocious beauty is definitely stealing the show of this years’ edition. Daring design, top-of-the-line technology and outstanding performances: the much anticipated Vanquish is one truly amazing ride.
Centennial Avenue: A Walk Through 100 Years of History
The Montreal Automobile Dealers Corporation, creator of the MIAS, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. For the occasion, an exhibition was created: 10 cars, each representing a decade, are on display and can be admired by nostalgic – or simply curious – car lovers.
World Premiere of the Honda GEAR Concept
Honda chose Montreal to reveal its GEAR Concept for the first time. The slick, compact, urban-friendly three-doors mono-box hatchback, “inspired by fixed-gear bicycles” , obviously targeting a young, hip audience has had a lot of success so far at the MIAS visitors, receiving mostly favorable feedback.
Electric Vehicles Test Drives
Car enthusiasts visiting the MIAS will be given the opportunity to take various EV for a test drive. The idea behind the initiative? Familiarize the public with this technology, in which many see the future of automobiles. Many models are available for tryouts: the Focus Electric, the Nissan LEAF, the Volt, the C-Max Energi and numerous others.
A record number of Canadian premieres are happening this year at the MIAS. Many are worth mentioning – here are a few: Nissan is unveiling its NV200, a compact cargo van; Ford is premiering its Fiesta 2014; BMW, one of Quebec’s favorite – BMW has many dealers throughout the province – is unveiling both its Z4 2013 and its 3 Series Diesel.
