Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid EV (PHEV) Previewed Ahead Of Paris Debut

Mitsubishi has released new details about the Outlander PHEV, ahead of its public debut end of this month at the Paris Motor Show.

The Outlander PHEV features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery and two electric motors (one front, one rear) that produce a combined 81bhp and 144 lb-ft of torque. Purely on electric power, the Outlander PHEV has a range up to 34 miles and 547 combined with the petrol engine.

Combined fuel economy is expected to be 172.3 mpg.

Outlander PHEV has three different drive modes:
– Pure (electric-only)
– Series (electric motors running the car and the petrol engine recharging the batteries)
– Parallel (electric motors and petrol engine working together for the best performance)

The Outlander PHEV will be launched first in Japan early next year, followed soon with Europe and other international markets.
