MINI Cooper S AWD Hybrid Prototype Spied In Sweden

At first it looks like a regular MINI Cooper S, but at closer inspection you will notice yellow stickers on the side windows saying it is a hybrid prototype, plus there is also some sort of a package under rear axle.

So what is it? It is four-wheel drive Mini Cooper S prototype! On the prototype the front wheels are powered by a conventional engine(either diesel or petrol) and the rear wheels are getting their power from an electric motor.

While nothing is official the MINI hybrid technology is expected debut in 2013. Hopefully the technology is not just for the bigger models like the Countryman and upcoming Paceman, but also for the upcoming Coupe/Roadster, next Cooper and who knows maybe even for the little Rocketman.
