Mercedes-Benz S-Class Concept Coupe debuts in Frankfurt [video]

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Concept Coupe is a spiritual successor to the CL-Class previewing a production model that will arrive already next next.

“The new S-Class Saloon was received enthusiastically in the market and perfectly lives up to its role as a representative of the power of innovation of Mercedes-Benz,” says Dr Joachim Schmidt, Member of the Management Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales & Marketing. “On the S-Class Coupé as the traditional top of our product range the designers take advantage of their additional freedom and thus create an automotive masterpiece.”

The Coupe in concept form looks quite different than its four-door siblings, featuring a more aggressive front fascia, new sleek horizontal tail lights, curvier lines and muscular wheel arches.

The S-Class coupe concept is 5050mm long, 1985mm wide and 1409mm tall, while the wheelbase is 2945mm. Power comes from a 4,633cc Biturbo V8 with 455 hp and 700 Nm of torque.

Interior is also quite different from the four-door siblings with a modified layout, white instrument panel, repositioned airbags, two 12.3-inch screen with 8:3 ratio, aluminium door panels, handmade silk carpet and hand-woven silk roofline.

All this rides on huge 21-inch wheels.

The production version will be toned down a bit and is expected to debut in early January at the Detroit Auto Show.
