No more spy photos and speculative renderings. Mercedes-Benz has finally unveiled the CLA Shooting Brake with a similar styling as the bigger CLS Shooting Brake, but in a more compact form.
Just like its bigger brother, the CLA Shooting Brake is one good looking estate car. The new roofline offers more headroom for people in the back seat and more cargo capacity in the trunk.
Engine line-up has no big news as it carries over from the already familiar CLA and includes a 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel with 136hp and 221 lb-ft of torque in the CLA 200 CDI and 177hp and 258 lb-ft in the CLA 220 CDI.
The petrol lineup starts with a 1.6-litre with 122hp and 147 lb-ft of torque in the CLA 180 and 156hp and 184 lb-ft in the CLA 200. There is also a 2.0-litre unit with 221hp and 258 lb-ft of torque in the CLA 250 that is available with an optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The range topping CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake uses the familiar 2.0-litre turbo four producing 360 horsepower, taking the four wheel drive hot wagon from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155mph.
Compared to the standard CLA, the Shooting Brake model’s cargo capacity has been increased by 25 litres to 495 litres.
The rear seats can be placed into more steeply raked “cargo” position increasing luggage area to 595 litres and when folding them down will provide up to 1,354 litres.
