Mercedes-Benz C-Class named 2015 World Car of the Year

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been named at the New York Auto Show as the 2015 World Car of the Year. The C-Class was followed by Volkswagen Passat and Ford Mustang.

Mercedes-Benz previously won the inaugural 2014 World Luxury Car award for the S-Class and two World Green Car awards: one for the S 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY in 2012 and for the Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec in 2007.

This year Mercedes-Benz really dominated the awards as it also won the World Luxury Car of the Year for the S-Class Coupe and World Performance Car of Year for the Mercedes-AMG GT.

In the World Green Car of the Year category, the S500 Plug-In Hybrid was beaten by a BMW i8.

The World Car Design of the Year award went to Citroen C4 Cactus, which was praised for its innovative design.
