Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive revealed

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the production version of the B-Class Electric Drive at the New York Auto Show.

The electric motor which was developed together with Tesla Motors delivers 134bhp and 230 lb ft of torque. 0-62mph takes less than ten seconds and the range from a full charge is around 115 miles. Two hour charging time is good for arange of about 60 miles at 240 V/40 A.

The B-Class Electric Drive also benefits from an energy recuperation, by converting kinetic energy into electric current in deceleration mode and during braking.

Other high tech features available include an Audio 20 system with a 14.7 cm colour display, twin tuner, MP3, USB and CD Player, as well as radar-based collision warning system, Active Parking Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist.

The B-Class will be launched first in the USA at the beginning of 2014.
