Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG Revealed [VIDEO]

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the hot compact A45 AMG with a maximum output of 360bhp and 450 Nm of torque from a hand-built 2.0-litre AMG four cylinder turbo engine connected to an AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission. Power is sent to AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive, returning an average 40.9mpg.

“With the new A 45 AMG we have well and truly achieved our aim of developing the most dynamic, powerful and efficient four-cylinder series production car,” comments Tobias Moers, Head of Overall Vehicle Development and Board Member of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “With its impressive high-tech package and the performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the A 45 AMG is a thoroughbred AMG through and through.”

The AMG 360bhp 2.0-litre turbo is the most powerful series production four-cylinder engine in the world. 0-62mph comes in 4.6 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited at 155 mph.

Other under the skin updates compared to the standard A-Class include AMG sports exhaust system, AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive with the three-stage ESP and the ESP Curve Dynamic Assist, AMG sports suspension with independent front and rear axle, AMG speed-sensitive sports steering and AMG high-performance braking system.

Exterior is distinguished with AMG “twin blade” radiator grille and the cross strut in the AMG front apron, large cooling air intakes at the sides, AMG light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design, side sill panels, AMG rear apron and two chrome-plated tailpipes at the rear.

Interior boasts two sports seats with red contrasting top-stitching, multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles, red seat belts and the AMG DRIVE UNIT.

The A45 AMG will make its debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show. Market launch is this July and prices are expected to start from around £36,000.
