Mercedes AMG GT confirmed with a 503bhp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 [video]

Mercedes-Benz continues to release new details about the upcoming AMG GT.

This time full details about the engine are out. The AMG GT will use a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 503bhp (510 PS) at 6,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 479 lb-ft between 1,750 rpm and 4,750 rpm.

The new Euro 6-compliant engine is codenamed M178 and has a dry weight of 209 kg and in addition to AMG GT, this new engine will be used later in the upcoming C 63 AMG models, starting with saloon and followed by estate, coupe and cabriolet.

The AMG GT will debut later this year with market launch in March 2015. An open top Spider is also expected and a high-performance Black Series with 550+bhp.
