Meadows Double Podium in Carrera Cup

Reading man Michael Meadows took two steps closer to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship 2013 title today with a double podium at Silverstone. Backing up the MSA British Touring Car Championship, this weekend saw a combined grid of cars with the GT3 Cup Challenge forming up behind Meadows, Gelzinis, Butcher and co.

Daniel Lloyd got a great start in Race 1 to take the lead from Meadows as the pack turned into Copse, but Meadows re-captured the lead and despite repeated attacks be Lloyd, held on till the chequered flag for maximum points with fastest lap in the Pro category. Dan De Zille took the ProAm1 win with Pete Smallwood marking his return to racing in the UK, having now emigrated to Canada, to take his of two ProAm2 wins of the weekend. Justin Sherwood was first of the GT3 Cup cars over Harrogate man Guy Riall.

Race 2 was a much less challenged affair – the lead cars soon spread out and no one really challenged Dean Stoneman, who lead from lights to flag. Michael Meadows took his second podium of the weekend in 2nd with the Lithuanian driver Jonas Gelzinis third. Victor Jimenez was first of the ProAm1 drivers home and that ensures his class win for the season. ‘Emmerdale’ star Kelvin Fletcher took the GT3 Cup win with Peter Kyle-Henney second.
