McLaren has been testing the upcoming P13 sports cars for some time and we have also seen chassis testing mules with the 12C body.
McLaren has now released a first design sketch by design chief Frank Stephenson, showing us the P13 will follow a very similar design as the P1 supercar but in a more compact and affordable package.
the P13 will also continue using a lightweight carbon fibre MonoCell chassis, also found in the 12C and P1.
Power will come from a detuned version of the company’s 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 which will produce 444bhp.
McLaren’s sales chief David Brimson describes the new model as a true high-performance sports car with the same DNA as the 12C and P1.
Public debut for the P13 is most likely in September 2014 at the Paris Motor Show while sales are likely to start in early 2015 around the same time when the last P1 rolls off the assembly line. A spider version is also planned with a retractable hard top.
Prices are expected to start from around £120,000.
