McLaren P1 supercar enters production

Looks like the development is finally over as McLaren has officially announced the first P1s are starting to roll off the assembly line at its Woking HQ.

The P1 gets its power from a 627bhp twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 engine and a 176bhp electric motor. Combined power output is 903bhp and 663 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-62mph sprint in less than three seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h (217 mph).

Priced from £866,000, the P1 production will be limited to just 375 units and reportedly the whole production run is almost sold out.

All P1s will be left-hand drive and they will be built at the rate of one per day. Each buyer will be able to see his/her car being built in person from a special VIP section above the production line.
