McLaren MP4-12C Supercar Enters Production

McLaren MP4-12C - Chassis 01

First McLaren MP4-12C (‘Chassis 01’) production car takes shape in McLaren Technology Centre(MTC) in Woking, England. McLaren plans to build up to 1,000 12Cs this year, with most cars manufactured in a new £40m McLaren Production Centre, which is due for completion in May on a site adjacent to MTC.

Antony Sheriff, McLaren Automotive Managing Director said: “Meeting our prospective customers at launch events around the world, from Dubai to Cape Town, Paris to Los Angeles, has filled us with inspiration. There is genuine desire for McLaren to be launching our own range of sports cars, and an exciting appreciation of what McLaren stands for: innovation, technology leadership, and a winning mentality.

“In five years, the MP4-12C has evolved from a concept we developed in our own Formula 1 simulator, to a groundbreaking high-performance sports car offering unique technologies and outstanding dynamic performance. It has been an intensive development programme, but now the fun really begins as our future owners look forward to taking delivery of their 12Cs.

The McLaren MP4-12C features a one-piece carbon chassis and a 592bhp twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 with 442 lb-ft of torque. 0-62 mph comes in less than 3.8 seconds and the top speed is in excess of 186 mph.

In the UK, McLaren will be represented initially in Birmingham, London, and Manchester, with prices starting at £168,500.

    Dear McClaren gods!
Just watched the video of the two world champions driving the awsome Mp4-12C and I’m driven to doing something really stupid and nuts. I’m a motor industry professional and ex FF 1600 driver of 15 seasons both in Ireland and Canada and I’m Just going to here goes …….ask the good people of McClaren to make a dream come through for an ex racer and let me drive that beauty just once on the test track !!!
I know it’s nuts to just ask but it will never happen in my life time so I’ve nothing to lose in asking. Go on make my dream come through for the rest of my life!
    Regards
I must be mad but f**k it

Ciaran, where do you live? Still in Ireland or UK?

If in UK, then your chances driving one are a lot greater than in Ireland…
