McLaren MP4-12C Spider Revealed, Priced From £195,000 - First Deliveries In November

McLaren has unveiled the MP4-12C Spider, that is now available to order, priced from £195,000. First deliveries are planned for November. The main competitor the the MP4-12C is the recently revealed Ferrari 458 Spider.

The MP4-12C Spider is almost identical to the coupe, except it features a unique RHT folding roof system that may be operated while on the move at speeds up to 19mph. Behind driver and passenger sits a rear windscreen which may also be electronically lowered and raised, acting as wind deflector to minimise disturbance to the 12C Spider’s occupants.

Power comes from a 616bhp 3.8 litre V8 twin-turbo mated to a 7 Speed SSG dual-clutch transmission, enabling it to reach 62mph in just 3.1sec while the top speed is an impressive 204mph (3mph less than the coupe).

As the 12C was designed originally as a convertible, its 75kg ‘MonoCell’ requires no additional strengthening for the 12C Spider. The result is a sports car almost identical to its fixed roof equivalent in performance terms, and weighing only 40kg more with the addition of a convertible roof system.
