McLaren MP4-12C Goes From 0-62mph In 3.1 Seconds

McLaren Automotive has released final performance specs for the upcoming MP4-12C supercar, that is priced from £168,500, including VAT at 20%.

The McLaren MP4-12C is powered by a 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged V8, mounted in a mid-engine position and producing an impressive 592bhp at 7,000 rpm and 443 lb-ft of torque from 3,000 rpm all the way up to 7,000 rpm.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via seven-speed ‘Seamless Shift’ dual clutch gearbox taking the 1301kg carbon fibre supercar from 0-62mph in just 3.1 seconds with the optional high performance Corsa tyres. With standard tyres it takes 3.3 seconds.

The MP4-12C does a quarter mile in 10.9 seconds at 134mph and has a top speed of 205mph, which is the same as Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and the Ferrari 458 Italia. The average fuel economy is 24.2 mpg.

The sales in UK will start in late-spring through three different dealers: Jardine Motors Group in London, Rybrook Motor Holdings in Birmingham and Sytner Group in Manchester.

The MP4-12C will be built at the McLaren Production Center in Woking, beginning with production of up to 1,000 units this year. By the middle of the decade McLaren has the capacity to produce around 4,000 cars a year.
