Maserati Ghibli debuts at the Shanghai Auto Show

Maserati has unveiled the new mid-size four-door Ghibli saloon at the Shanghai Auto Show.

The Ghibli will be offered with a 330bhp 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that has an average fuel economy of 29.4mpg and needs 5.6 seconds to accelerate from 0-62mph. The same engine in the top of the range Ghibli S produces 410bhp and 550Nm of torque. 0-62mph comes in 5.0 seconds and the top speed is 177mph.

For the first time a diesel engine is offered in a Maserati. The 3.0-litre twin-twin turbo diesel produces 275bhp and 600Nm of torque, enabling it to reach 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds and deliver an average fuel economy of 47mpg.

Both engines are linked to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. In UK the Ghibli will be offered exclusively in rear-wheel drive configurations, while the LHD models will also get the optional Q4 all-wheel drive system.

Compared to the new Quattroporte, the Ghibli has a 20cm shorter wheelbase, while the overall length is down by 29cm.

In addition to the new Ghibli, Maserati is showing also the new Quattroporte V6 with 330bhp in Shanghai.
