Magnum MK5 track toy from Canada revealed

Magnum Cars from Canada has unveiled a lightweight rear-wheel drive MK5, which is a new alternative to British Ariel, Caterham, BAC and Radical.

Power comes from an unspecified 4-cylinder petrol engine delivering 250bhp linked to 6-speed sequential gearbox with reverse.

Weighing just 545 kg, the MK5 goes from 0-62 mph in just 3.2 seconds and to a top speed of 150mph. Power-to-weight ratio is an impressive 460 bhp per tonne. Redline is 11,000 rpm!

The MK5 bodywork is carbon-fibre composite with easily removable front and rear sections. It also features functional aerodynamics: internal front wing, front splitter, flat underbody, rear diffuser.

Cargo area is big enough for two helmets and a briefcase.

The MK5 looks perfect car for trackdays and Sunday drives through scenic roads.

Cockpit is simple, but comes with all the necessary things like steering wheel mounted backlit digital dash-display, with integrated laptimer and data acquisition system, as well as rear-view monitor & camera.

First 20 cars are scheduled for deliveries late next year with a $139,000 (£86,700) price plus tax and delivery.
