Lotus Exige S Roadster confirmed for summer [video]

Lotus Exige S Roadster will enter production this summer, following its public debut at last year’s Geneva Motor Show.

The Exige S Roadster is essentially an Elise with a bigger engine with power coming from a 345bhp 3.5-litre supercharged V6 with 400 Nm of torque. Power is sent to rear wheels either through a 6-speed manual and an optional Serial Precision Shift (SPS).

0-62mph comes in 4.0 seconds, while the top speed is 145mph. Average fuel consumption is 28mpg.

This is the first time an Exige model is offered with a factory-fitted lightweight convertible roof. The soft-top design does not jeopardize the performance of the Exige S as the 0-62mph time remains the same, though top speed is down from 170mph to 145mph.
