Limited edition FIA Shelby Cobra 289 marks 50 years of racing Cobras

Shelby American has unveiled a special CSX7000 Shelby 289 FIA Cobra to celebrate 50 years since the iconic Shelby Cobra made its mark on the FIA racing world.

Limited to just 50 units, each car will be painted “Viking Blue” with FIA stripes and roundels, riding on original style wheels and boasting a black FIA interior, as well as special billet anniversary badges and a variety of additional options.

Shelby American built the 289 FIA Cobras for racing and the limited edition model comes with similar updates including, widened front and rear fenders, cut-back doors, new dampers, racing wheels, oil cooler scoops, stronger frame and large steel brakes.

The 50th Anniversary CSX7000 Cobra starts from $94,995 (£57,800) with the fibreglass body and from $159,995 (£97,300) for the aluminium body.

Each car is built to order and delivered as a rolling chassis, less drive train, with a Shelby American issued MSO.

The vehicles can be fitted with a proper drive train by a customer or automotive professional.
