Lightweight Mazda MX-5 GT Race Car Revealed

Mazda MX-5 GT race car weighs just 850kg and packs almost twice the power a standard model. Such lightweight is possible thanks to stripped interior, polycarbonate windows and carbon fibre parts, including doors and many of the interior components.

Modified engine produces 275bhp and is mated to a six speed sequential paddle shift gearbox, enabling it to reach 60mph in just three seconds and hit a top speed of 160mph.

The Mazda MX-5 GT race car will make its racing debut this Saturday at a three-hour endurance race at Silverstone.
