Jaguar F-Type is an impressive sports car, but the whole range has been really missing the all-wheel-drive option. Better performance and also handling, putting it much better against the 911 Carrera 4 and Turbo models.
The new F-TYPE range with AWD will debut at the LA Auto Show on 19 November.
Full details are not known, but the AWD F-TYPE R Coupe with a 542bhp 5.0-litre V8 will reach 0-60mph in 3.9-seconds with a limited top speed of 186mph. That’s 0.1 seconds faster than the RWD model. Not a very big improvement actually, considering Porsche 911 Turbo S with AWD and 553bhp does it in 2.9 seconds.
Ian Hoban, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar said:”Our target with engineering the all-wheel drive F-TYPE was to maintain the engaging rear-drive character that’s so important to Jaguar sports cars, yet offer even greater dynamic capability. The result is a controllable, exploitable and blisteringly fast performance car in all weather and road conditions.”
