Ginetta G55 GT3 race car gets hit by a flying door [video]

Motorsports is not safe. We all know that.

This past weekend during the Avon Tyres British GT, Ginetta’s Mike Simpson was doing 140mph when a door from another car flew into his windshield. This would scare the s### out of most of us, but not Mike who kept racing the remainder of the lap before slowing down to enter the pits.

How come there are doors flying on the track?

Mike Simpson said; “Team LNT had a cracking opening 10 laps in British GT, climbing from 17th to third over the opening laps. As we continue to establish the G55 GT3 as a capable GT3 car, the collision was an issue outside of our control, yes it destroyed the windscreen and the radiator, but it’s a good job we build them strong at Ginetta, or it could have been a different story!”

Mike’s reaction:
